Ground Squirrel Activity Around Your Property
Ground squirrels often dig along slopes, fence lines, and open areas around a property. Their burrows can spread beyond the first opening you notice, making it important to look at the surrounding activity before deciding how to treat the problem.
Signs of Ground Squirrel Activity
Open burrow entrances, disturbed soil, and repeated sightings during the day are common signs. You may also notice damage to plants or irrigation lines. We look at these conditions to help determine where the animals are active.
Why the Surrounding Area Matters
Bell Canyon properties may border hillsides, open land, or neighboring areas where ground squirrels are active. We check the accessible areas of your property to understand how far the activity extends and where treatment should be focused.
How We Treat Ground Squirrels
Treatment depends on the amount of activity, the location of the burrows, and the conditions around your property. We explain the available options after inspecting the affected areas.
Trapping Method
Trapping may be recommended when ground squirrels are active in specific areas of the property. We place traps in locations where activity has been identified and determine whether follow-up visits are needed.
Carbon Monoxide Treatment
Carbon monoxide treatment involves introducing gas into active burrow systems using specialized equipment. This method allows us to treat ground squirrels underground without digging up the affected areas. We determine whether this option is appropriate based on the burrow locations and surrounding conditions.
